trump's proposal is basically i'll give you daca amnesty if i get everything else i want. why is he already agreeing to the premise that amnesty is even on the table without the shitlibs giving him a inch? this isn't the shit out of the art of the deal by any means.

trump's plan has 0 chance of getting 60 votes in the senate. so any "compromise" that gets the shitlibs on board requires that amnesty happens AND trump doesn't get everything else he wants. wtf? how's that good negotiation?

why the fuck would you enter negotiations already caving on DACA?

If the negotiation were viewed in isolation you'd be correct but it's also about making libs look like clowns

As illustrated by the fact that the senate is having an “open debate” on immigration reform and the dems have not offfered up a single proposal.

He needs 60 votes. He’s offered a “compromise” than Dems have refused. End game would be either they cave, or you gun for 60 seats in the fall (although Jones winning has made that even more difficult).

The real question is how do you get a wall with only 51 GOP senators?

i'm afraid there's an end game where GOP passes daca with some watered down version of the wall.

go nuclear and get rid of the filibuster?

Well, the number of people (voters, I mean) who are Rand Paul-style budget hawks is probably smaller than the number who completely distrust all of Congress on immigration. So there's that.

I agree, it's not enough to make me comfortable. But I do think it's LESS likely to happen on immigration than on a spending bill.

the problem is that trump's already put EVERYTHING the shitlibs want on daca on the table. that's terrible negotiation. he needs to re-read the art of the deal.

Yeah. It's true. Could be an act, though; after the Democrats won't deal on chain migration or whatever he may just be planning to say "OK! No deal." and let the thing expire next month. In many ways that's the best outcome anyway. The hurdle to actually revive it should be higher and involve more concessions from the left.

The big risk is the GOP Congress (Graham, Rubio, and the rest of the RINOs) as always. I think Trump was always likely to sign whatever they pass, no matter what he'd explicitly "put on the table" or not, and I think it's obvious enough that they expect that, too. Healthcare was basically that way--ANYTHING Congress passed he was going to sign.

There's a preliminary injunction in place preventing the effective expiration of DACA. There won't be a resolution on that until the fall.

I support this interpretation (beclowning the Dems) but I do think he could've accomplished the same effect by holding it only to the DACA people (700,000) instead of expanding it to include the 2 million people who could've, but didn't, sign up for DACA.
